Meet Larry! He has been my right-hand man for the past five years.

Larry is a Charleston native his family has lived in the area for generations. He started at Captured by Kate as an intern in 2019 and has been my second wedding photographer, an assistant on numerous portrait and lifestyle shoots, he is my office assistant, and now an associate photographer!

He graduated with a degree in Photography in March of 2022 from Trident Technical College. He is currently working on a second major in videography. Larry is always smiling and fun to be around. He is also great with kids and dogs!

Captured by Amy

A native of Knoxville, TN, she has lived in Charleston since 2011. She loves photographing families, children, graduates, couples, and fur babies and can often be found chasing sunrises and sunsets on Folly Beach. She earned her BA in English from Colorado College and her MA in Education from the College of William and Mary. With a background in teaching, she excels at guiding clients and helping them feel at ease in front of the camera. She has a strong affinity for working with children, having taught students from PreK to high school. In August 2024, she earned her AAS in Commercial Graphics for Photography from Trident Technical College.

Passionate about visual storytelling and capturing candid moments, she is also a proud mother of two grown children, Maren and Jeb. When not behind the camera, she enjoys sailing on the Folly River with her husband of 26 years, affectionately known as "Captain Johnny." Her other interests include painting, reading, and attending plays or live music at Charleston's unique theaters and music venues.

Captured by Kate

Hi, I’m Kate, founder and owner of Captured by Kate Photography. I have been a full-time professional photographer for over 20 years! My style of photography is photojournalistic and much more candid and “in the moment” than a traditional photographer.

I graduated from the College of Charleston in 2000. Traveled the world for a few years and settled back in Charleston, South Carolina in 2004.

My background as a staff photographer at a daly newspaper inspired the company name Captured by Kate.

I live on James Island with my husband, Chris, our three girls, Claire, Mary Spencer, and Sadie, and our labradoodle, Ace. We love spending time at the beach, on a boat, planning our next vacation, and having family movie nights.
